Wednesday WIPs... a Day Late

This is how my Wednesday went yesterday... at 8:45 I went to PT for an hour and a half. I then went to Michael's to get yarn to knit 1898 hats for my grandsons, stopped at Market 52 and picked up some whole grain croissants to take to a friend's for lunch. I then drove to my friend Bonnie's house and spent four hours catching up, having a delicious homemade chicken vegetable soup to go with the croissants. I had not seen Bonnie in almost two years and it was way too long.  I came home just in time to fix dinner and in the process of the day, I forgot what day it was and didn't post my WIPs. Not that there is much to post. I finished the 1898 hat that I was making for my son. He looks brooding and kind of scary in this photo but he isn't. He's very friendly and not scary at all...

So as not to get into trouble for posting one son and his hat and not the other... here is the first hat that I made for our other son.  He looks a little grumpy and he really isn't. They are both generally jovial, fun and easy to get along with... but you really wouldn't guess that by these photos.  I guess you could say that they don't like having their picture taken... but in actuality, they took these as selfies and sent them to me along with a thank you for the nice warm hats.

I have to say that the hats aren't much to look at, but the double knitting around the band and earflaps make them a very, very warm hat. One son walks to his office and the other works at a corrections facility and often works outside so I thought that these would be just the ticket to keep them warm. And neither one has a snowblower so these will be warm for shoveling snow too.

Now I have requests from two of my grandsons for the hats. One wants a lime green one and the other one wants a black, white and orange striped one (his hockey team colors), hence the trip to Michael's yesterday for yarn. I guess that will keep me busy for a while.

But before I get started on the hats I made a few of these. Can you guess what they are?

No, they aren't finger warmers or pot handle covers (but they could be!). They are freeze pop holders. You put the freeze pop inside and it keeps little hands from getting cold.  I've given a couple away already and plan to make several more so that I'm well prepared for summer!  It is coming, right?

My friend Kathy asked me to make a cup cozy for her husband. She finds hers quite handy for when they stop at McDonald's or Dunking Donuts for coffee. Those cups, especially the cardboard ones, can be quite hot so she uses hers so the cup isn't so hot to hold, instead of for keeping the coffee hot. I only have the chains and one row done so I didn't take a photo... but it's a WIP and will probably be done for next week's post. Of course, that all depends on if I know when Wednesday rolls around next week!

What works do you have in progress?

Thanks for dropping by...
