1-2-22 - https://rumbunter.com/2022/01/02/pittsburgh-pirates-another-potential-sidearm-lhp-draft-prospect/ -

In 44.2 innings, Carson Palmquist recorded 14 saves while posting a 2.22 ERA, and 0.67 WHIP. The southpaw struck out nearly 45% of batters faced, posting a 44.6% strikeout rate. However, he was also a master at location, walking just 4.8% of opponents. Palmquist’s biggest struggle has been home runs. He gave up 8 for a 1.20 HR/9 rate.

Palmquist looks to move into his team’s rotation in 2022. He has the two-pitch mix you like to see from many relievers. His four-seam fastball tops out in the 95-96 MPH range but usually sits in the low-90’s. He also has a great slider that MLB Pipeline sees as a 60-grade offering. He does have a change-up, but it only sits at a 45-grade right now.

242 Blake Cyr 2B Windermere Windermere, FL

Cyr is a twitchy middle infielder with a short, compact right-handed swing with some sneaky juice. Cyr generates backspin on the baseball and is plenty capable of driving the ball deep into the gaps for extra base hits. While he doesn't yet feature over-the-fence pop, many evaluators believe the Miami commit will tap into fringe-average power as he continues to mature at the plate. Cyr has a great arm on the dirt, though his skillset likely best fits at second or third base at the next level.

274 Nolan Schubart 1B/OF Orchard Lake St. Mary's

Durand, MI

Schubart is one of the more powerful prep bats in a loaded class. At 6'5", 210 pounds, he's got a lean frame with plenty of projection remaining. Generates excellent bat speed and has a nice and easy left-handed stroke with good loft to it. Good feel for hitting too. Michigan commit.

258 Jimmy Obertop C Michigan

St. Louis, MO

Obertop is a good athlete behind the plate and draws high marks from teammates and coaches for his ability to call a game. He's a power over hit bat with approach and pitch selection issues, but there are some raw tools there. College catchers, especially young college catchers like Obertop, are popular selections in any draft. He'll have the leverage to return to school, but there are teams that will be interested in the player and the upside.
