7 Big Games We Could See At The PS5 Reveal Event

cre: 7 Big Games We Could See At The PS5 Reveal Event

WWhile we’re still not sure exactly when that might happen, we do know that we can expect Sony to unveil the PS5 at an official reveal event… someday. It could be next month (that’s what the current rumors are saying), or it could be all in August-September, but given that the PS5 is a product that will be released, it will definitely have to make an appropriate announcement. and reveal.

What form this announcement and reveal might take is one to guess, especially following Nintendo’s release of the rulebook on how the console hype cycle works with the Switch (nee NX). It seems obvious that a similar short hype cycle is what Sony might be looking for with the PS5 itself. However, I hope that even as they learn from others, they don’t lose sight of the kinds of things that have made their own console reveals so exciting in the past.

Specifically, one of the coolest things we can expect when it comes to the PlayStation console reveals are the actual game announcements, demos, and trailers – and you watch that, nothing generates quite as much. of hype for a game console than games. Here are a few that we hope to see at Sony’s PS5 event.

HORIZON 2

The original Horizon ended up being way better than even the most ardent PlayStation fans could have hoped, ending up getting overwhelmingly positive ratings across the board and selling over 10 million units. This alone is enough to guarantee a continuation; but that aside, Horizon himself is leaving the door open (in fact, he’s outright putting together) a sequel.

A Horizon 2 released in 2021 (four years after the original) seems logical – yes, Guerrilla technically has to deal with a console transition, but they don’t have to create a whole new engine, as well as a brand new address, either. IP. in a totally new genre (for them) in the process. Given that, and the fact that Horizon as a brand is hugely popular (it was the game that went along with Zelda, how many games can say that?), Hoping Horizon 2 gets at least one Substantial PS5 teaser revealing the event is not unreasonable. Add in the important rumors and leaks surrounding the game that we’ve seen over the past few months, and there’s a lot of smoke here so there isn’t a fire.

RATCHET AND CLANK

Like Horizon 2, a new Ratchet and Clank game has also been well disclosed for some time now (as it was originally believed to be coming for the PS4, which at this point obviously seems unlikely). To add to that, Ratchet and Clank are smaller scale outings than something like Spider-Man, and Insomniac is extremely effective and prolific. What I’m trying to say is I’m expecting a Ratchet and Clank game, and I’m expecting it soon – like, launch the PS5 game soon, to be honest. Obviously, given that, I would expect it to be featured at the PS5 reveal event as well.

souls of demons

DEMON SOULS

We know Bluepoint is working on a brand new game and they have called this game extremely ambitious. We know they’ve already teased that this was a Demon’s Souls remake (teases that have since been corroborated by Jason Schreier, who has an almost flawless record with internal gaming scoops). Given that this is a remake of a much-loved cult classic, Demon’s Souls (or whatever remake Bluepoint is working on, but let’s be honest with ourselves here) is probably a game Sony wants for. the launch of the PS5 – as a remake it’s easier to meet deadlines, and as a cult classic entry into a franchise beloved by core gamers, it’s also the perfect flagship game to grab attention enthusiasts and get them to upgrade at launch. I think we’ll see this game unveiled alongside the PS5.

RESIDENT EVIL 8

Leaks take away almost all the fun of making guesses and predictions like this, because, again, Resident Evil 8 is a game that has been heavily leaked (by Dusk Golem, Rely on Horror, and Eurogamer, among others) . It’s slated for release next year, Capcom is known for their brief window-to-release reveals, and more importantly, the last three Resident Evil games have all been revealed at the Sony events. It’s no exaggeration to assume that we could also see Resident Evil 8 during the PS5 event – maybe we’ll even see a glimpse of alleged PSVR2 compatibility?

SILENT HILL

Resident Evil 8 isn’t the only horror game Sony plans to put on the scene when it unveils the PS5. A reboot of Silent Hill, the classic Konami horror game franchise, is also widely rumored and leaked. The details of what this reboot will look like are unclear – we have a lot of information (multiple games may be in development, the original team may be developing one, Hideo Kojima may be developing one, Sony and Konami are working. together on the game, and it’ll be a PlayStation exclusive) – but if they’re true, and Sony is indeed funding the game’s development, then we can almost certainly expect it to be showcased at the time of reveal. the PS5.

GRAN TURISMO

This one is more of an educated guess (therefore uninformed by rumors or leaks), but a) Polyphony Digital has not released a game since Gran Turismo Sport (which will be over 3 years old at the time of release. PS5), and b) Sony demonstrated each of its systems (except the Vita) with a Gran Turismo game during the reveal – even PSVR. We can probably expect to get a good look at Gran Turismo when the PS5 is revealed – whether it’s a real Gran Turismo 7, a bloated version of Sport, or just a tech demo. , isn’t clear, but betting on Gran Turismo to be there in some form is a pretty safe bet.

FINAL FANTASY XVI

As for the predictions of this coin, this one is the most extravagant we’ll get. It might be tempting to conclude that Final Fantasy XVI will not be present at this event, that it’s too early; and while I can see the logic in this, there is also a lot of convincing evidence to support that it strength be revealed during the PS5 event after all. We know Final Fantasy XVI is in development, and we know it’s a different team than XV or VII Remake. We also know that PlayStation systems in the past have been revealed with hype inducing upcoming Final Fantasy projects – VII for PlayStation, X for PS2, Crisis Core for PSP, XIII and Versus XIII for PS3 and XV for PS4 (again a times, the Vita is the only PlayStation system that doesn’t benefit from this treatment – do you see a trend here?). Putting two and two together is not a lot of a stretch to guess that FFXVI could be at that PS5 event, whenever that happens – but sure enough Square could throw a curve, and either only show 7 Remakes running on PS5 (or maybe show us the next one). part of 7 Remake instead). They could also show nothing at all. We do not know. But more than any other game that could be at this event, it’s the ability to finally have my eyes on FFXVI that excites me.
