Anyway, like the subject says, a bit of good news for me: I'm going to by GMing at Gen Con 50! Goodman Games was looking for a few people willing to Judge (that's DCC for "GM") a few slots, ideally four or more. I signed up for the requisite four, so I could get a badge and hang with the crew.
Not my first choice of venues, but that's not why you go |
I've wanted to get more involved and out there with GMing, and this is the proverbial leap with both feet. Gen Con is obviously the granddaddy of RPG conventions, and this is the 50th anniversary in a year where WotC has been going strong. This is the biggest of our small ponds, and I couldn't be more stoked.
Of course, I'm also a bit nervous. I've never GM'ed at a convention before! I've never even played at a convention before! Doesn't Goodman Games have any standards? They really need to vet their Judges!
In all seriousness, I am nervous, but I am also sure that I can do a good job, here. I've been having a lot of fun GMing over the last year, and I feel strongly that I have been growing in skill and understanding. Cue the training montage! I'm going to be ready for Gen Con in August!
Anyway, I'll be running the funnel adventure The Hole In the Sky (DriveThru) as well as the very convention-oriented Bride of the Black Manse (DriveThru). I've had experience with the first one that convinces me it has the potential to be a ton of crazy fun, and Bride has an impeccable reputation for greatness. In the case of the latter, I've already tricked my weekly group into letting me spring this one them in an upcoming session. Who knows? They may want to switch over to DCC after this.
If you're going to be at Gen Con in the Year of Our Lord 2017, drop me a line if you'd like to join my table, or if you'd just like to say "hi!"
